President’s Day is probably not the first holiday we think of, but it is definitely one we’re grateful to have after the chaos and madness of the holiday season. President’s Day, which was originally celebrated on George Washington’s birthday on Feb 22nd, was changed when Congress passed a proposed measure known as the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
The proposed change was seen by many as a novel way to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers, and it was believed that ensuring holidays always fell on the same weekday would reduce employee absenteeism. Also commemorating President Lincoln (whose birthday is February 12th) President’s Day falls on the third Monday in February every year.
For many of us, Presidents Day is a much-needed break and a chance to boost our happiness by recharging and relaxing.
What better way to relax than to hide out at home? Nothing beats cozying, cuddling and nestling up in your own space. It’s where we seek comfort and refuge, but what most people don’t know is, Keeping a healthy body and mind is as important as establishing a healthy home environment.
We already know that dust and dirt follow us home, and you’ve already swapped out those harmful chemicals in your food, beauty products, and cleaning products. But most people don’t know is that our furniture and decor can be off gassing VOC’s (volatile organic compounds), an odorless undetectable toxin within our homes/safe haven.
VOCs can be found in the glues, paints and finishes. This means that most mass-produced wood furniture, rugs, couches, candles etc.… can contain harmful chemicals that can potentially cause serious health issues like nausea, fatigue, cancer, SIDS and even memory impairment.
We are firm believers that “home is where the heart is,” and we want that heart to be a healthy one. With the use of unique finishing techniques and water-based stains, Furniture Pipeline manufactures low non-toxic VOC furniture.
As a bold statement for what we stand for, we plant 7 trees for every furniture design sold in your name in areas severely affected by deforestation (#plantedseven)! In addition, all our metals and packaging are recyclable, while our wood is biodegradable. We are dedicated to making the earth (Everyone’s home, wildlife and humans alike) a healthier and much happier home to reside in!
